The Power

Based on the novel by Naomi Alderman, The Power follows 5 female characters (from London to Seattle; Nigeria to Eastern Europe) as they discover a supernatural ability to omit electricity from their fingertips.

With the tables turned, we explore the imagined history of what it would be like for the female of the species to cease the title of the dominant sex….

I filmed on The Power at Crystal Palace just after lockdown lifted. It was my first experience doing SA work and a very enjoyable 3 day experience, despite all the restrictions we had to follow as we came out of the pandemic and there were also some long days. I learned lots from the crew and other SA's about what to do. I played part of a crowd watching some gymnastics, as well as a featured part as a government minister accompanying one of the principle cast.

I worked on The Power just before Lockdown, filming the wedding scenes. The attention to detail on set was phenomenal and so beautiful. I had the pleasure of being filmed by the incredible Reed Morano, which was such a kick. The experience gave me happy memories to hold on to during lockdown so thanks very much.

As the rather quirky wife of Robertson Laing [played by Michael Brandon], I was delighted to meet my ‘husband’ on set. He was so much fun. We had two days joking, laughing and getting on like old friends and it was sad when filming ended. He was a true gentleman and found me as we were leaving to jump on the bus to say goodbye and thank me for making the two days great fun. Thank you, Mr Brandon!

Loved the US Air Force costume they had me in for the funeral scenes :) Challenging time for all - just after the country had reopened after Covid lockdown - but it was great to be back and involved, all be it with the many understandable precautions. Thanks UE!
