Let’s Talk Money

Whether you’re a student, a retired professional, or just hardworking with your spare time, being an Extra is a great way to be involved in the film industry and earn money whilst you’re doing it!

This page will cover all things financial, such as UVE listing fees, commission and all the industry-wide union rates that you need to know!

So, first things first…

What Does It Cost to Join?

At Uni-versal Extras, we work hard to be 100% transparent about costs – so, no nasty hidden charges! When joining us, you will have the choice of 3 standard listing fee options:

💡 Full-time students can register for free with UVE when providing proof of studies | SEE MORE

In addition to your listing fee, a standard agency commission of 18% will be deducted from anything that you earn – although don’t panic: we’re glad to say that we have one of the lowest commission rates across all of our competitors! (This agency commission is subject to VAT as required by HMRC.)

*Please note that multi-year listing packages are also available, and that more detail can be found in our Welcome Pack

What Do Extras Earn?

Uni-versal Extras work with a wide range of different productions where industry pay schemes can vary depending on what and where they are filming. Generally speaking, Extras will be paid in-line with one of 2 following union pay schemes: FAA, or PACT.

These pay schemes are controlled by the relevant union (not by Uni-versal Extras) and, as such, may be changed without prior notice. We therefore recommend that you only use the below as a guideline.

On occasion, however, productions/ broadcasters will choose to use their own bespoke pay agreements – but we will always confirm the pay scheme or pay rate before you accept any role that we offer to you.

Artistes will then receive payment for their time on set between 7 and 28 days of filming – even if we’re still waiting on payment from production. You leave worrying about production delays to us 😊

This payment will be deposited into a nominated bank account, which you can then keep up-to-date at all times via the UVE Artiste App by heading to Profile > Payment Details.
