Which Film & TV Genres Require The Most Extras?
🚁 ACTION
Action productions often require large amounts of Film & TV Extras – think troops on the battlefield, or busy stadium scenes, etc.
If you’re a fan of the action genre, you’ll be happy to hear that you could find yourself playing a bystander in a car chase, a pedestrian in a fight scene, or a patron in a crowded bar.
🎭 DRAMA
Similarly, you could also find yourself playing a background character at a protest march, working in a hospital operating room or attending an Elizabethan ball in elaborate hair & make-up.
Dramatic storylines often focus on social themes, so can involve many Supporting Artistes to build both tension and realistic period settings!

👻 HORROR/SCI-FI
From time to time, you may also find yourself playing a background character in a creepy mansion, an apocalyptic zombie, or even an intergalactic troop!
Both horror and sci-fi genres can call upon Background Artistes to bring fictional creatures to life – as well as help build tension and atmosphere!

🚓 CRIME
Another place that you’ll often spot a healthy handful of Uni-versal Extras is in the Crime Drama genre!
We’re frequently on the lookout for Artistes to play everyone from Police Officers, Detectives and Witnesses to Courtroom Spectators, News Reporters, Emergency Responders and more!

😂 COMEDY
Got a good sense of humour? That’s handy – because you could very well find yourself playing a background character in a restaurant scene, a party, or a wedding.
Comedies often feature Extras in crowd scenes, such as comedy clubs, train stations and music festivals!
e.g. Sex Education, Paddington, Brassic
🧚🏿 FANTASY
Similar to Sci-Fi, Extras are often sought out for all sorts of fantastical roles such as Elves, Wizards, Witches, Warriors, Villagers, Fairies, and Knights. In fact, you’ll see UVE faces in a many a fictional fantasy universe!

👮 TRUE CRIME
Ever caught an in-depth crime re-enactment?
It’s possible you’ve encountered a UVE Artiste appearing as a Courtroom spectator, Family Member, Perpetrator, Law Enforcement Officer, Journalist or Witness!
